Somewhere, I miss it today. It's nice to think of sunny Southern California on this day of grey and puddles. When I remember the film I feel adrift, lost in a dream state where simple moments become magnified and days can disappear. I think of the people who touch our lives and see more in us than we are able to see in ourselves. Without trying or even knowing they've done so, they quietly press possibility and hope into our palm.

I love how HoneyBear is waiting for the weather to change. And I love how her color will appear more golden if the sun decides to visit us today. From the South Bay, Cheers~
ReplyDeletea great view! and i love that last sentence.
ReplyDeleteFar away, we run deep.
ReplyDeletelovely thought.. wish there were more people like that x
ReplyDeleteConny, I would be pleased with a little visit from the sun. Here's hoping.
ReplyDeleteShari, I love when what's written in that last sentence happens.
Tracy, I believe so.
Deborah, Oh, there are. We'll meet them.
That photograph really captures it... makes me smile, and feel melancholy at the same time. So familiar. My honey bear often stares out the window dreaming ...
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to seeing this film (is it out in SF?). Sophia is the master of melancholy. x
Janis, I saw it VO in Paris. It's mostly come and gone here in San Francisco. It went so fast... I believe it remains here in just one space, the Roxie Theater http://roxie.com/index.cfm
ReplyDeletewell, see, after reading your beautifully arranged words, i can think only about watching this film. but there's homework to check and library books to read and baths to give and dishes.
ReplyDeleteMy honey bear is stuck (literally)inside a kitchen cabinet.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I should set her free and perch her on a windowsill or two.
Pretty soon we'll all be doing that, taking pictures of our bears, and it will become as big a craze as the kidnapped gnomes.
And it will have begun here, march 2,2011. Somewhere.

Can I confess that you do that for me, pressing hope and possibility into my palm? Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAh, it's been so sunny here for the past week so I'm sending a few rays in your direction. Even if I was disapppointed by the end I still loved Somewhere, those connections we try to find with others, those little moments that make up our days are beautifully captured. Sometimes I dream of California too.
ReplyDeleteI too, love the Honeybear. It's important to find life's sweetness where we can.
ReplyDeleteYou sound reminiscent today.
ReplyDeleteso beautiful photo!
ReplyDeletei have not seen somewhere, but sofia coppola's film always evoke me everything that you say: a dream state where simple moments become magnified and days can disappear.
thanks, and have e good time.
I sort of envy Southern Californians their weather. But I love the bay so much, I feel as if I am a part of it...its worth the fog and clouds and cold. And SF looks lovely against the grey - its suits the older pastel houses I think...
ReplyDeleteI love this cheery image - and "quietly press possibility and hope into our palm". Beautifully said. Happy weekend, Denise. xo
ReplyDeleteMelissa, Those things are far more important. It should be available via rental soon.
ReplyDeleteJane, Oh, yes. I can see it now. I'll look around and say 'hmph...old hat'.
Rachael, I am honored.
Vanessa, Your rays are here today. Thanks! They leave tomorrow. I'll be honest, I'm not sure I understood the ending, but I just let it rest that way.
Zia, I so agree.
Mariana, It happens often.
tiziana, I like where Sofia takes me.
Indie.Tea, Sometimes I long for a little sun, but I'm a big fan of calling San Francisco my home sweet home.
Lecia, Thank you.
With one photo, you brought a sweet feeling and a smile to so many -- including me. Thank you. I've never seen the film. Now it's on my list, too.
ReplyDeleteI second Shae, your do wonders with words. I am so happy to know of you.
ReplyDeleteI believe this is why people need people. It can be so uplifting when we least expect it to hear another view.
ReplyDeleteShae, I hope you like it. Like most things, it's not for everyone. Reviews were mixed. I've seen it described as "going round in circles" and I've seen it described as "a hypnotic, seductively pensive meditation". I liked it.
ReplyDeleteAnne Marie, Thank you.
alexandria, Yes, exactly.
Denise,
ReplyDeleteI always love your words and pictures. Love your honey bear.
the Lady, Thank you : )
ReplyDeletei have been meaning to see Somewhere ... how very true about those people who touch our lives and see more in us than we ever do...
ReplyDeleteAnnie, I'm so thankful for them.
ReplyDeleteDenise, I hardly know what to say.
ReplyDeleteI've been coming back to slowly savour your spare, quiet posts, and feel deeply honoured that you found your way to my work. Thank you.
Finding those people...the ones who can see more in us than we are able to see in ourselves...that's a rare gift indeed. I have a few of those in my life thank goodness...but I have too many of the other kind as well. Those that want to make you believe you are less than you are.
ReplyDeleteLucy, Thank you so much. What a beautiful compliment.
ReplyDeleteRachel, I know exactly what you mean. I'm trying to stay close to the good ones. I recently read "What you focus on expands." (Oprah) and I'm thinking about it a lot lately. I believe she is correct.
