Oh wow, how delightful! One of the nicest poetry recitals I've ever heard. "But don't worry, I am not the bread and the knife." Thanks for making my day.
it's quite amazing how the parents were able to instill in him the love for poetry at such a young age (and with none of that pageant feel)... memorizing is the first step to understanding and then loving poetry. I need to catch and start doing this with my kids...
The pine-scented air is what kills me. I don't know if any of you were able to see the text of the poem beneath the video. If not, I want to make sure that you do. http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/19797
Oh my, I cannot believe it! Reminds of my mom teaching me a poem about a bird when I was four...I would recite it using actions. I still remember the recital to this day. Children, I think, can live a poem easier than us adults. Thank you for sharing this.
Said again...the things I find when I visit this space. You've brought many smiles to my face this morning...now I'm ready to face the day. Thank you Denise.
Observer. Also, author of the novel “After the Sour Lemon Moon.” I recorded a free audio version at the beginning of the pandemic. You can find it in my Instagram bio, in highlights.

ReplyDeleteI have seen this enchanting recitation before--wonderful. Think of all the poems this young boy will come to embrace.
ReplyDeleteI'm speechless! And how wonderful that he recites poetry, as opposed to Disney-esque blah.
