Fears

Pinquitos, 2014
  1. not finding the "debris and organic matter" in my dried beans and breaking a tooth
  2. stepping on a piece of broken glass while wearing espadrilles
  3. getting salmonella after eating raw eggs in cookie dough and cake batter all of these years episode-free
  4. walking between two cars with running engines, that happen to be blocking a crosswalk, when the rear car accidentally accelerates and crushes my knees between the two cars
  5. losing my memory

    1. Choking. I get it, we do eat every day. I wonder why I never think of choking... Cheers to none of these things happening to us, ever.

  2. i really really hope these are fears only
and didn´t come true in some way already...

    somehow i´m fearless
but i do not like rusty nails lying on the floor, kind of like nr. 2...

    1. None have come true. And I agree with you, no rusty nails on the floor, please.

  3. Oh boy, what an interesting topic. Fear is such a burden.

    1. Yes, but I believe it lends me balance as well.

  4. If those fears occur....you've been cursed! None should ever happen, never ever! <3

  6. Is this a comprehensive list? If so, I am envious! My list would be like a novella.

    1. It's been a few days and I think you are safe. Thank goodness.

    2. yes, thank you :) all went well, apart the heavy rain and a child who really nagged hard to sleep in the flooded tent! :D But, we had the most delicious hot chocolate on the stove while drying and packing the tent the next day so that made up. xx

Not being excited about life, little things, the every day... I fear this might ever happen

  9. Yeow! at No. 4.
Your list made me realise that I've never thought of thinking about my fears.

  11. There is a bright side to losing your memory...re-reading all of your favorite books again for the first time. Is it disturbing that I have already thought this through and have a contingency plan?

    1. Interesting point. And the same plan would work for favorite movies.

  12. My worst fear is that as a mother I have done some irreversible psychological damage to my children without realizing it. (Then the loss of memory would be welcome I suppose...) But they are pretty well grown up , and I don't really see too much 'obvious' damage, phew!, at least not Yet!
I have stepped on a large piece of broken glass because I wasn't wearing my contacts..., and stupidly I went to the bathroom and pulled it from my foot and sprinkled blood all over the place and all the way down the stairs as I was being carried to the doctor. (it was during a summer on a Greek island) Big drama! My ex-husband told my children that I got my scar by dancing on broken glass. They still believe him!

    1. I am not a parent, but I can imagine all the fears related to doing the right thing for your children. Your story about the glass reminds me of a similar experience I had in Mexico. I was actually in the ocean and still don't know what I stepped on because I was in the water and it all happened so fast. The blood... Not fun. Dancing on broken glass. How can they believe him? Eek.

    1. Yes. The 'test'. And I don't think I'll be stopping this practice any time soon...
