Handbound, 2014
This is the second to last printed page of Michael Whitt's book of poems, La Ventana. The copyright is 1975.
It's such a beautiful book.
I poked around a bit and found that he began a general practice of medicine in a small town in Northern California 45 years ago and has remained a country doctor, writing poems, and watching birds.
I'm inspired.
That is inspiring. Looks like a beautiful book.
ReplyDeleteHi, Jen. It seems two of us think so.
ReplyDeletewow, Denise, you are on a roll with these poetry finds from 40 plus years ago. La Ventana--Spanish for The Window--intriguing what it will open up for you.
ReplyDeleteYour book is in my little writing office, awaiting its turn. soon, I hope, I will have quiet time ( a lost luxury of late!) to become acquainted.
I just started reading your book last night before bed. Comforting writing and beautiful recipes. I woke up thinking about Vidalia Onion Pie and Hot Chicken. I want to make the Fresh Dill-Feta Quick Bread and your Cornbread Panzanella. So much to inspire. Thanks, Nancy. I am sure you have been quite busy with the launch of your book and I'm honored you are considering reading my book as part of the way you will spend your upcoming quiet time.
DeleteLook at that typesetting - such a beautiful page.
ReplyDeleteAnd as beautiful - "...writing poems, and watching birds."
I couldn't agree more, Pia.
