Snail Mail, 2012 |
Hello, hello to all of you out there who take the time to visit me here. Sometimes having a blog feels like having a group of imaginary friends. Most of you, I have not met.
But there have been books, poems, postcards, even a lovely care package. There are those of you who take time from your busy days to come here and thoughtfully comment and type well wishes. And there are those who simply visit to read what I've written, a gift in itself.
I appreciate you all, more than you know. You inspire me. I must be doing something right in this life to have come into contact with you lovely people. You know who you are. Thank you all for making me smile.
The shifting companionship of the blogs is such a boon. I'm delighted that people are being so good to you, and rightly so.
ReplyDeleteAnd here you are, one of those good people. I should send you a cake.
Deletehere's hoping we'll get to meet one day! thanks for the inspiration,d. xo
ReplyDeleteI would definitely enjoy that, Shari.
DeleteAnd thank you to you too Denise! Your description of blog friends as akin to imaginary friends is apt. You are one of a small group of blog friends who make me smile, and feel as though there's a lovely group of like-minded people out there. Have a wonderful afternoon, and I hope you like the book. Annie x
ReplyDeleteMaking you smile makes me happy, Annie. Thanks for telling me so.
DeleteSometimes I think I know my imaginary fiends on a deeper level than I know my real time friends.
ReplyDeleteI know what my Monday crazies will order for lunch but I don't always know what's in their hearts.
I don't know what you look like externally but I bet I could find your soul in a crowded room.
So,no, thank you.
xo Jane
My soul in a crowded room. I like that idea, Jane.
DeleteWhoops, did I say fiends?
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes. It is something I never expected, and am so grateful for.
ReplyDeleteAn unexpected nice bit about technology.
DeleteI'm happy to be your imaginary friend! Sounds magical. I like to believe I am magical. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis whole thing is sort of magical. Not something I ever imagined. The closest thing that comes to mind is the living room walls in Fahrenheit 451, but I know that is not a positive example...
DeleteI feel this way about my blog friends too and have been forming words in my mind to remind them of that. It's amazing the support and love we give each other. I count some of my blog friends as dear friends whom I can share a lot with. Some of us have met in person, some of us haven't but will one day. When I first discovered blogging, I thought that kind of thing would be weird and creepy even. But it actually feels totally natural to develop these relationships. I'm certain you are worthy of such friendships by the warmth that you give out.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to see how we adapt. When I first heard of blogging I thought it was an awful idea, like digital cameras. Things change.
DeleteAnd I appreciate your blog! It always gives me little boost when i stop by here... Your words and images and the ideas your blog gently plants in my mind are truly awesome. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mina.
DeleteI am always so inspired by your blog. Your ability to eloquently put down in words the ideas and thoughts I have swimming around in my head. This space is such a gift. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteEloquently... I'm flattered. Thanks, Julie.
DeleteYour blog is a bright spot in my day.Thank you, Denise.
ReplyDelete: )
DeleteI echo all of this. Enjoy your little treats and know for certain you are doing something right just by being here, being you x
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kate.
DeleteSee, we are not so imaginary!
ReplyDeleteNope, Nicole. You are not.
DeleteDuring the past 3 weeks I had to take a blog sabbatical to finish a project. I missed my imaginary -- but oh so real and true -- friends very much.
ReplyDeleteI shall reflect your words back to you: you inspire me & thank you for making me smile.
Those sabbaticals can be a good thing. I hope you enjoyed yours, Elaine.
Deletelikewise, Denise, I appreciate your visits to my little blog-house. I always enjoy coming to Chez Danisse.
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you one thing, Nancy. You always make me hungry.
DeleteYour blog is one of my favourites, so peaceful and insightful. I always feel comfortable here. Thank you for that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely description, Samantha. Thanks.
DeleteWe appreciate you too, Denise. Your words, your thoughts and your virtual friendship.
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me numerous times, just so you know :)
It is nice to know, Magda.
DeleteYour words often make me smile, or more importantly, THINK. So thank YOU! :o)
ReplyDeleteExcellent. Thanks, Elizabeth.
DeleteDitto, Denise.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's my pleasure :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I'm amazed that people read my own blog, it still seems strange.
I know what you mean, Hila.
DeleteI too am grateful to my readers, my virtul friends, for always being there and inspiring me. You're one of my very favourites and to come here is something that means a lot. The poems you write , the photos you write, the books you recommend, it's just so special. I feel like I learn and think about things more deeply after reading your posts but most of all, everything is done with such care.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is all so nice. Thanks, Emily.
DeleteEven though I have to take blog breaks periodically for work, your space is one of the first I come back to (even if it takes me a few more days/weeks to actually get a comment written). I find peace working through your words, your posts, your thoughts, your images. We've never met but I still consider you a friend...as odd as that may seem to others who don't understand this community.
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing a note from you, Rachel, but don't ever feel obligated if you need to back off a bit and take time for yourself. I'll be happy when you return. Maybe one day we'll go on a walk together, or knit a few rows in the same room. I'd like that.
DeleteHi, Sorry it took me so long to get here!
ReplyDeleteYour blog and thoughts and spirit are so sweet.
I'm glad to make your acquaintance and to be an" imaginary" friend too:)) I know what you mean, and it's fun to think of blog friends like that.
Thank you for your visit and hope you have a beautiful day!
Denise: clearly you "create" community... you are one of those rare souls that people feel an assonance with. I do. Thank YOU.
ReplyDeleteYou my friend, are a treasure.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're here. We appreciated YOU dear blogger friend. I find a kindred soul here... xo
