I've been learning to work with clay. Lorna Newlin has been my guide.
We are celebrating her studio's seventh birthday this weekend. Stop by, have a glass of wine, and see what Lorna has been up to for the past seven years. I'll have a few of my pots for sale too.

ReplyDeleteHi Erin-
ReplyDeleteI do show one of my bowls in another post:

I've always wanted to try my hand at pottery... I feel like I've been searching for a creative outlet, and I'm not sure what that is, though...
ReplyDeleteAnyway. So good to find your blog again (via reading my tea leaves)... It has a certain peace and quiet to it that I find....well, soothing.

ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed pottery. I was convinced that throwing on the wheel would be my main interest, but I have also enjoyed working with slabs of clay and hand building. Hand building is almost meditative--very calm. Let me know if you give it a try.
Thank you so much for your kind note.
Ive been a plate-making machine lately; pottery is supplanting all of my other creative desires right now. But it's all hand-built, since I'm useless on the wheel. I hate waiting so long until they're fired.

ReplyDeleteA plate making machine? Cool! Your own kiln? Truthfully...I was feeling a bit useless on the wheel today. Some days I feel like I'll move to 100% hand building, but then I miss the slab roller, and then I miss the wheel. I guess, for now at least, I need the variety.
