Stinson, Summer - 2017
I can tell you that solitude
Is not all exaltation, inner peace
Where the soul breathes and work can be done.
Solitude exposes the nerve,
Raises up ghosts.
The past, never at rest, flows through it.
-from May Sarton's Gestalt at Sixty
This makes me catch my breath as it so clearly articulates my own thoughts. I wrote it straight into my notebook and keep peeking at it - half afraid... Kate (little house)
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling something very similar, Kate. Inspired to move through that work, and more than a little afraid of those ghosts.
DeleteAh yes, the ghosts. This reset my day. Thank you.
DeleteMy pleasure, Sharon.
DeleteYes, those ghosts. I know I have to turn around one day but I keep thinking, if I keep my eyes closed...(but that doesn't really work does it?)
ReplyDeleteIt works sometimes, but it seems they continue to return until we deal with them.
DeleteJust saw this, and yes. Calm comes when one can be in solitude with the ghosts and let them breathe as well.
ReplyDeleteSomething I have not been able to accomplish with my ghosts.
