Iris, 2013
Someone recently wrote of her practice of reading something beautiful each morning. She liked to begin her day by remembering how beautiful writing can be.
I wish I could recall who wrote this. I think of it often. If you are reading, thank you.
Today it is Brooke's piece, The Wren, that reminds me of such beauty.
sounds like a lovely way to start the day - thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteof all daily practices, this sounds like my favorite so far. I think i might just adopt it... thanks for the thought, anonymous person, and thanks for sharing it, Denise
ReplyDeletewhat a glorious idea.
ReplyDeletecertainly better than watching a bit of the news and feeling a bit, well, you know how the news can make one feel.
also, iris! now THAT is a lovely way to start the day.
I'm the opposite, I like a bit of good writing before bed. But I'm a morning person and like to dive into what needs to be done. All about production in the mornings!
ReplyDeleteI'm ending my day reading this. You always bring beauty into my life.

A wonderful way to start the day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful thoughts and a gorgeous picture.
Thank you Denise!
I think I may adopt this practice as well. Thank you for sharing the idea and the introduction to Brooke. I loved her story of the wren. And I love when beauty is shared.
ReplyDeleteBrooke's "Wren" is charming. Thank you for the introduction and the morning suggestion. Its a good plan!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the introduction to Brooke.I think I will save it to read first thing tomorrow morning...
ReplyDeleteJust stopped by for a bit of calm before another day of...
ReplyDeleteyes, how to frame the day, beginning and ending with a glimpse of beauty and a sense of gratitude.

ReplyDeleteI have gotten out of the habit of reading poetry in the morning. You've motivated me to return to it once more. Thank you, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteGotta echo Jane on this one. Wren's a beautiful pice of writing, which is what I find here, consistently.
ReplyDeleteI'll think of Brooke's wren as I keep my eyes open for our own little family. And starting the day with something beautiful rather than my usual bout of radio news sounds far preferable. Love the irises.
ReplyDeleteI think it might have been Jess from Sweet Amandine who said this. I very nice way to start the day.
ReplyDeleteYes! You are correct, Michele. Thanks you!
Delete"Over breakfast, I always try to read something that reminds me of what words can do. Before I pick up my manuscript each day, it helps to see proper evidence that writing is, in fact, possible."
