Springtime

Today I woke an hour and a half earlier than usual. I'm between things. Current work must rest. After the initial thud felt upon completing a project phase there is new energy. The mind is more active, more free to wander. I've busied myself in other ways, ways that occupy the body and keep the mind free.

My thoughts continue to return to the senseless pain and sadness in Boston. A reminder that things can change so quickly. We are not always in control. I look around and appreciate my now.

We've had sun and wind here. A choppy bay. So much is in bloom. I found out I'll have a poem in Taproot this June. We have strawberries. I've finished reading one book and have selected another.

If you are in the mood for peaceful music, you might enjoy this soothing song mix. I did.

What have you been up to lately?

  1. Denise: such lovely "beginnings". Your soon-to-be-published poem, the first berries, blooms, a new purse, and hope, lots of it, for the universe. Happy spring.
P.s. I have been too busy lately, hoping for a lull, or at least a slower pace, as the summer approaches. I need it.

  6. Congrats on having your poem published! Spring has finally arrived here, too. After a week vacationing in the sun,it's hard to pick up the pace in the real world. Looking forward to Spring produce. Trying a new recipe tonight for Thai Shrimp Cakes.

  8. Trying to mow the lawn-again.

Keeping both doors open until 8 at night.

Smelling the spice bush blooming in the back yard.

    Healing.

  10. Congratulations on the poem.

Spring is busy time around here - gardening, editing, volunteering, parenting, walking.

    You sound much more peaceful.

  11. Returned ludicrously late last night from France - so a day spent dazedly unpacking and patrolling the garden to see what's happened in our absence. Marvelling at the heavily scented white hyacinths that have opened beneath the trees despite weeks of cold winds. I look forward to reading your poem. And am envious of your strawberries!

  12. Lovely post, Denise. Can't wait to read your poem in Taproot! What an honor.

I'm visiting family in the Arizona sun after the passing of my 91 year-old grandmother. I've been enjoying my "now", too, while being embraced in their love. Happy spring to you!

  13. Congratulations, Denise. A poem in Taproot - how wonderful!

While you're in the midst of blooms, we're waiting for Spring to make up its mind in our part of the world. It's been a longer wait this year for leafy trees, woven bags and red strawberries.

  14. I've been listening to yoga music in the last few days. Back to work for me on Monday; I so loved having this long stretch off and I am sad it's over. It truly is spring where you are - I still have quite a bit of snow in my backyard, though it is slowly melting. Happy weekend.

  17. The transition from one state to another does take some adjustment, but also provides a small whoosh of energy which is mostly pleasant. Congratulations on the Taproot poem - wonderful! Things do change so quickly, Boston is such a dreadful reminder of this. One wonders how the world can still be so full of misunderstanding and hatred...sadly the human race does not seem to be able to learnt from it's past... Annie x
