Good Stuff

Husband, 2012

We only have this one life, so why not fill it with as much good stuff as we can find.

Thinking about this beach, where we ate lunch yesterday.  It felt like we were in Portofino.

Listening to Jesse DeNatale and thinking back to the best book event I've ever attended.

Reading poems by Jennifer Grotz.

  3. I've been thinking about this theme so much lately. I'm reading "Loving Frank" and the epigraph reads, "One lives but once in the world" - Goethe. Then I started thinking about this whole "YOLO" saying going around and how it's a lowbrow rehash of the same idea. And now here it is a third time, elegantly stated.

Surely it's a message to remind me to take ownership of every moment of my time - and I intend to!

  6. Just when I am bogged down with life's minutia, a great reminder to celebrate with "good stuff". Thanks.

    1. Life's minutia can overwhelm. Sometimes celebrating is easier said than done.

  7. Ah, Jennifer Grotz, I think she's wonderful. I'm yet to find a recent poem I like as much as 'Poppies'.

  10. Hi Denise, I saw your comment on Bakery Bookery - sounds like you had a delicious weekend! There's nothing like a long walk and then a big meal afterwards to relax. Definitely agree that is some of the "good stuff" we can fill our lives with! I hope you are well. Always love your visits and your posts.

  11. On the day after a week of camping at the county fair, it was hard to find that good stuff you're referring to, but when I paused and thought about it, there it was: it may have taken me 10 tries, but I successfully backed the pop-up trailer into the garage without guidance. Oh, yeah!

    1. We had a pop-up trailer when I was a little girl and my dad never maneuvered that thing into the garage without help. Well done, Rachael!
