I love that picture. It has a true sense of place!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot, that sky and those looming buildings.
ReplyDeleteyes!
ReplyDeleteMy own infrastructure for living is contained in your list. What a sky. Is that Coit Tower in the distance? It was my totem and guide when I was finding my feet in San Francisco.
ReplyDeleteYes, Kate, you've spotted Coit Tower. Good eye.
ReplyDeleteWhat a dramatic photo! I'd add smell to the list...and population density! ;)
ReplyDeleteSmell for me too for sure. Take away the seaweed salty smell of the sea and my idyll fades.
DeleteInteresting. I'll have to think about how and what I define as "place."
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone.
ReplyDeleteRachel, My mother-in-law agrees with you on the addition of scent. I do too. I go back and forth with my feelings about population density, but I'll always love something like the smell of freshly baked bread.
Rachael, I'd like to see your definition.
Gosh the way you've captured the clouds is incredible! I'd not actively thought what makes up how I exist in a place. I shall have to (happily) ponder that one....

Annie, You were so right. The video is amazing. Maia's beauty brought tears to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteshuffled around, that's pretty close to my list too.
ReplyDeleteThat's an excellent list. I hope one day I will be able to have a home that can be more of a proper place, using those terms. i want windows that can be opened to pollution-free air, with birds chirping. I want a lawn so I can hang my clothes outdoors. I want a garden gate. I'm keeping my eye on "one day" when we leave city life.
ReplyDeleteI've never thought about things quite like that...interesting observation, and true for me, too.
