One foggy morning...

Flowers and Fog, 2011

I woke remembering a good dream. I was attending a writers retreat and hanging out with Vendela Vida. She borrowed one of my spaghetti strapped tops to go out one night (Yes, I know...do writers go out at night while attending retreats? One might assume, no, they are too busy working or fretting about not working, but I haven't attended such a retreat, so I don't really know. For me, the act remains completely plausible). She liked my top. I felt a little starstruck, but played it cool and pretended it was no big deal.

  1. Dreams like that seem to be so few and far between. What did you eat before bed last night? :)

  2. Tracy, Oh, do you think it was my dinner that did the trick? Interesting... I had one half of a really good grilled cheese, simple green salad, and a glass of white wine.

  3. Good dream. Validating. And I'd be doubly starstruck given who her husband is ;^)

  4. I dreamed all night about a hedgehog. Wanna trade? Also, about ten years ago, I went on a month-long writers retreat in Vermont. There were a lot of other writers and visual artists in attendance, and one funky bar in town. There was going out. Also staying in, hanging around the dining hall with wine. I didn't write as much as I'd hoped I would. :-)

  6. Janis, Yes, I suppose he's pretty cool too ;)

Shae, I might trade. Was it a baby hedgehog? Aren't they called hoglets? Maybe you didn't write as much as you thought you would, but I bet you had some experiences that eventually worked their way into your writing.

  7. Ha. You are right about that, with the writing.

It was a small hedgehog. It needed a better place to live, and I was a bit frantic for it. If I see it again, I think I will suggest that it look you up. :-)

  8. maybe it's a dream that talks about being "exposed", as a writer, you know... and about other writers noticing (and appreciating) that

  9. Shae, Thank you. I'd like that.

amelia, Interesting thought. Writing certainly can make one feel exposed.

  10. I love your bedside table list which makes me think about what I am reading and that makes me happy. Beautiful post. Your writing always makes me "think" more about things that matter. Thanks.
